Changing Organizational Culture

I enjoyed reading Hapa's web poster and I agree with the concepts presented. The research, recent and classic, is well structured and well presented. It is true that changing culture is extremely difficult and the bigger the organization, the harder it is to change its culture. Yet, in order to become and remain competitive, organizations must reinvent themselves and sometimes this means changing the culture.
It is obvious that nobody knows exactly how to change a culture. There is not a single formula that will work each time for all organizations but I believe that it is safe to say that at a minimum a good communication strategy and patience are essential in order to successfully change culture.

I agree with the bigger the Organization the more difficult it is to change it. But it is also easy for new people to accept the culture in place not challenge it as the organization is big and the culture is in place. If the management can make the people believe that he change is culture is for the good and is the best thing for everyone involved it will be easy to achieve it.

Change should be more about the people working in the company and should not sound like a set of rules management is enforcing on us.

I liked Hapa’s web poster because the idea of organizational change is interesting (and the cartoon is wonderful). I agree that it flowed nicely and it wasn’t too long or too short. I’m shocked to hear that only 19% out of 59 companies experienced successful cultural change! With all of the research that has been done, you think people would know what it takes for successful change. If people are employed to help in the culture change process, one would think that there would be a higher success rate. It seems to me that there needs to be more follow-up and monitoring of cultural change.
